Chocolate-Chip Bites

These soft, cakelike treats are lower in fat than traditional chocolate-chip cookies!

3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
6 oz pitted prunes
1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 pkg (12 oz) semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375 F. Coat baking sheets with nonstick cooking spray.

In bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt.

In food processor, process prunes and 1/4 cup water until smooth.

In bowl with mixer at high, beat prune purée, butter and both sugars until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat 1 minute. Stir in flour mixture until well combined. Add chocolate chips.

Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto baking sheets. Bake 12-15 minutes until golden. Remove to wire racks; cool.
