French Toast Casserole

French bread loaf cut into 1 inch slices
6 eggs
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups milk
1 1/2 cups half and half

1/2 cup soft butter
1 cup brown sugar
3 Tbsp dark corn syrup
1 cup chopped pecans

Spray a 9x13 pan. Place bread slices in pan. Mix the next 6 ingredients together and pour over bread slices. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Mix the topping ingredients together. Cover and refrigerate, but do not put on casserole until the morning!!!

In the morning, spread the topping over the bread slices. Bake at 350F until golden brown, about 40 mins.

It is very delicious Aline…kids like it too. I just love the recipes prepared the night before and then just pop in the oven in the morning. You can also sprinkle some powdered sugar on the top if you have a sweet tooth!
