GRIDDLE SCONES

GRIDDLE SCONES

3 c. flour
2 t. cream of tartar
1 t. baking powder
1/4 t. salt
1/2 c. butter
1/3 to 1/2 cup milk

Sift together flour, cream of tartar, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter. Add just enough milk to make dough stiff enough to handle. Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness on a floured board and cut into rounds about 8-inch across. Cut each round into fourths. Bake on a hot griddle, turning over until both sides are lightly browned.
