Hearty Potato Ham Chowder

Hearty Potato Ham Chowder
(Makes 6 servings)

4 Russet (or other) potatoes
2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1/4 cup sliced green onion
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
2-1/3 cups water
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. white pepper
1/4 tsp. paprika
3 Tbsp. flour
2 cups milk
1 (12-16 oz.) can whole kernel corn, undrained
2 cups cooked ham, diced

Peel and dice potatoes. Melt butter or margarine in large saucepan; add onions and green pepper. Cook until tender but not brown.

Add potatoes, 2 cups of the water, and seasonings. Cover and simmer until potatoes are tender.

Make paste of flour and remaining 1/3 cup water; blend into mixture in pan. Add milk and cook, stirring, until slightly thickened. Stir in corn and ham. Heat through.
