Sticky Pecan Bars

CRUST
1 1/2 c Flour
1/4 c Sugar
1/8 ts Salt
1/2 c Unsalted butter

2 tb Unsalted butter; cut in
… pieces
1 lg Egg yolk

FILLING
1/2 c Packed brown sugar
2 tb Flour
3/4 c Dark corn syrup
3 lg Eggs
1 ts Vanilla
2 c Pecan halves

  1. Preheat oven to 400°. Grease a 9" square pan.

  2. Pulse flour, sugar and salt until blended in
    food processor. Add butter slowly; process until
    blended. Add egg yolk; process until blended.
    Transfer to pan; flatten and press evenly over
    bottom and 1/2" sides of pan. Bake 10 minutes.

  3. Mix brown sugar and flour until blended. Stir
    in corn syrup, eggs and vanilla until well mixed.

  4. Arrange pecans evenly over crust. Pour filling
    over top of pecans.

  5. Reduce oven to 350°. Bake 25 minutes, or until
    filling is firm. Cool on rack; cut into bars.
