BREAD PUDDING

I have been looking for a good bread pudding and can’t find one. And would like a burbbon sauce to go on top.
Can any one help me out here.

Why not try the Christmas Bread Pudding posted in this forum? It is pretty good. You could always just make a bourbon sauce to go on top. or use a traditional Christmas Pudding topping.

Here’s a recipe clipping that I saved about 27 years ago. I got it from “STAR” or “The National Enquirer” (haven’t read those in over a decade!).

Bread Pudding with Bourbon Sauce

(10 servings)

4 cups French bread cubes
4 cups half-and half cream
1/2 cup freshly brewed Louisiana coffee with chicory
1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/3 cup sugar
6 eggs
2/3 cup raisins

Bourbon Sauce

1/4 cup butter or margarine
3/4 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
2 Tbsp freshly brewed Louisiana coffee with chicory
1 Tbsp bourbon

Place bread in 13x9-inch baking dish. Dry in 350 oven 10 minutes; set aside. Scald half-and-half cream and coffee. Combine sugars. Gradually beat in eggs. Add raisins. Gradually stir in scalded mixture. Pour over bread; let stand 45 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350. Bake pudding 1 hour or until knife comes out clean. Serve with sauce.

To prepare sauce, melt butter over low heat. Add pecans and cook, stirring, 5 minutes. Stir in remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, simmer 5 minutes. Serve warm.
