Sukiyaki

Sukiyaki

1 1/2 lb sirloin steak
1 cup soy sauce
1 can bamboo sprouts
1 can water chestnuts, sliced
1 cup celery, diced
1/2 cup sugar
1 can mushrooms
1 bunch scallions (green onions)
peanut oil

Cut meat into thin strips and brown in peanut oil. Add 3 Tbsp sugar and 1/2 cup soy sauce. Cook 3 minutes. Cut onions into 1 1/2 inch lengths and add white part of onion, mushrooms, bamboo sprouts, water chestnuts, remaining sugar & soy sauce and celery. Cook until tender. Add green part of onion and cook 1 minute longer. Serve over hot rice.
